Foreword

It has been a pleasure to research and create this tribute to the Community of Maillardville on the occasion of its Centenary. The Maillardville Residents' Association hopes that in presenting this compilation of history, people, and culture we will contribute to fostering a greater appreciation for the unique character of Maillardville.

In highlighting "100 Stalwart Citizens" it is not my intention to provide full biographical details, but rather to comment on the significant contribution to the development of Maillardville made by that person or group. The selection of names for an "exclusive" list is always a risky business! I have done my best to choose those who have made an obvious impact on the development of our community either as individuals, or as members of a larger group. Looking at the timeline may offer some insight as to how names were selected. If I have failed to include a person or group the omission is regrettable and, of course, unintentional. I offer my apologies in advance.

The nature of this "electronic project" allows for it to be truly a work in progress. With that in mind, contributions from individuals or groups in the community are very welcome. Documents and pictures would be most valuable and can easily be added to the website. Your precious items can simply be scanned and the originals left in your possession. If you think you have such items that could be enjoyed by all, please contact us here.
